Small business mini grant application


Most small businesses would benefit from an infusion of additional capital. Thanks to a grant from The Knight Foundation and Lexington Fayette Urban County Government (LFUCG), NOLI CDC is able to offer North End business grants up to $5,000. The intent of these grants are to support and grow the economic potential of the North End Community.

To qualify for a grant your business must be:

  • Located within Lexington’s North End (SEE MAP BELOW)
  • Either an existing small business with a proven track record or a new business preparing to make a new home in the North End

Grant applications will be judged on the following:  Community impact: Does your business/ project add to the rich tapestry that is the North End Community? Preference will be given to businesses who align with the NOLI CDC’s Cultural Plan’s recommendations (available at http://www.nolicdc.org/cultural-plan/).


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING FINALISTS:

Finalists will be asked to share your business plan, last annual (or in the case of new business, planned) budget and give a 10-minute presentation and a 15-minute Q&A with the judges, for a total of 25 minutes.

Goals of finalist presentation and Q&A

  • Clearly and concisely articulate your business idea (for new businesses), how your current business serves the community, and how you would like to use the grant money.
  • Show the creativity and practicability of your marketing and sales strategy.

  • Demonstrate the overall viability of your business.

  • Provide sufficient detail to convince the judges that your plan can be executed and operated successfully. If invited to present - will offer applicant finalist two weeks to prepare.

    • You may use a PowerPoint Presentation (PPT). Size limit – 5 MB (finalists should also bring a flash drive with your PPT to the presentation, as a back-up).
