THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Working with and reporting to the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee, and with the staff, the Executive Director will:
Leadership and Management
Define, communicate, and build a shared vision for the strategic direction and focus of the organization that fulfills its mission, goals, and objectives.
Create a positive, healthy and safe work environment and an organizational culture that values and celebrates diversity, equity, collaboration, professionalism, and respect.
Develop and actively engage a strong, knowledgeable, and supportive Board of Directors to enhance its role and responsibilities for governance and fiscal stability.
Conduct official correspondence of the organization, jointly with the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, and, jointly with designated officers, in executing legal documents.
Manage and motivate a team of qualified staff that aligns their job duties and activities with the strategic direction and focus of the organization, that maximizes their talents and strengths, that empowers their professional and personal growth, and that meets desired performance outcomes.
Oversee the planning, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of the organization's programs and services.
Establish and execute administrative systems, policies, and procedures that ensure sound, effective, and efficient organizational and fiscal management.
Ensure ongoing programmatic excellence through rigorous program evaluation that tracks scalable progress and success.
Develop and nurture positive and supportive relationships in the neighborhood, community, and elsewhere.
Serve as the chief spokesperson and representative within the neighborhood, to the community, and elsewhere to enhance the organization's visibility, profile, and impact.
Ensure NoLi CDC uses best management practices for all affairs and is compliant with all local, state, and federal laws.
Create a culture of philanthropy that advances fundraising excellence across the organization.
Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising policies, programs, and practices that attract and retain financial support from individuals, corporations, foundations, associations, and organizations.
Ensure that gifts and grants are properly accounted for, managed, and stewarded in accordance with funder intent and restrictions.
Provide regular reports on the uses and impact of gifts and grants to demonstrate transparency and build trust.
Ensure that all fundraising activities, policies, and practices reflect the values of NoLi CDC and the ethical and legal standards for nonprofit organizations.
Planning and Resource Management
Create and implement an inclusive and collaborative strategic planning process that outlines the goals, objectives, action steps, timelines, resources, and performance measures to achieve NoLi CDC’s vision and mission.
Develop and implement an annual budgeting process that defines the human and fiscal resources that are needed and available to achieve the NoLi CDC strategic plan.
Manage day-to-day fiscal operations using sound and ethical financial management policies and procedures and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial accounting and reporting.
Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices and determine the staffing requirements for organizational management and program delivery.
Ensure the staff possesses the appropriate technical skills and personal abilities to further the organization's mission and provide orientation and training as needed.
Coach, mentor, and evaluate staff on a regular basis to improve performance and addresses deficiencies.

Desired Professional Qualifications
Advanced degree or equivalent direct experience preferred
Five or more years of nonprofit management experience preferred
Experience in community development, programs and policy
Proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and grant administration
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting
Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation
Strong written and oral communication skills
Spanish language skills a plus
Compensation and Term
NoLi CDC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The Executive Director serves under an annual employment contract.
